India’s TVS Motor starts operations in Italy

India’s third-largest motorcycle company, TVS Motor Company Ltd, has commenced its operations in Italy, the company announced on Wednesday.

The expansion into Italy is facilitated through its branch office, TVS Motor Italia, led by Giovanni Notarbartolo di Furnari, as per a regulatory filing by TVS Motor Co.

Furnari, appointed as director of TVS Motor Italia, brings extensive experience from senior managerial roles in major automotive companies across various regions.

“Our move into Italy is a strategic step towards our global ambitions,” said Sharad Mohan Mishra, president and head of group strategy at TVS Motor Co.

The company will introduce a range of products in Italy, including the TVS Apache 310 Series bike developed in collaboration with BMW, TVS Ronin 250, TVS Raider, TVS NTorq, TVS Jupiter 125, TVS iQube, and TVS X electric scooters. Additionally, e-bikes from Cilo, EGO Movement, Simpel, and EBCO ranges will be offered.

“In establishing a branch office and by offering a broad suite of products, both thermic and electric, TVS Motor has underlined its confidence and long-term strategy for the Italian market,” Furnari stated.

TVS Motor Company (TVS) is an Indian multinational motorcycle manufacturer headquartered in Chennai. With annual sales of three million units and an annual production capacity exceeding four million vehicles, TVS stands as a significant player in the industry. Furthermore, it holds the position of being the second-largest exporter of two-wheelers in India, serving markets in over 60 countries.
